Microneedling

Microneedling In the South Hills Of Pittsburgh

How many treatments will I need?
For light anti-aging treatments, 1-2 treatments. For deeper wrinkles and scarring, 4-6 treatments may be required to achieve desired results. Treatments should be scheduled 2-4 weeks apart. Results will show 2-3 weeks after your treatment.

How long is the downtime?
Typically it takes 24-72 for all the redness and pinprick points to disappear. Absolutely nothing should be applied to the skin for 90 minutes after your treatment with the exception of the growth factor serums we recommend for post care.

What does the serum do?

The serum is to be used for your at-home skin care after your microneedling treatment. The serums we use during the microneedling treatment have powerful moisturizing ingredients and growth factors to support cellular renewal. Microneedling works by creating tiny perforations in the skin. This initiates a natural healing response from your skin, producing new collagen and elastin and new healthy skin! Microneedling can improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, scarring, as well as tone and texture.

Do I need to use the serums?
No, you do not need to use the serums after having a treatment. However, the microscopic perforations created in the skin during a treatment greatly increases the effectiveness of the serums allowing for deeper penetration. These serums when combined with a microneedling treatment, can yield even more improvement within the skin.

Are there any contraindications?
We can not treat scars that are less than 6 months old, or areas that have been treated with facial fillers within the previous 2 weeks before the microneedling treatment. It is recommended that you wait until after your last postpartum visit with your doctor (usually 6 weeks after birth) to begin your microneedling treatment. Please consult with your physician about having a micro-needling treatment if you have any of the following conditions: Scleroderma, Cardiac Abnormalities, Collagen Vascular Disease, Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, Rosacea, Blood clotting problems, Active bacterial or fungal infection or Immunosuppression (Lupus, HIV, etc).

What will I look like after the treatment?
You may have very little reaction to a deep flush, like a sunburn. Pinpoint bleeding and swelling is normal. Reactions can be based on the area and what we are treating. Microneedling with Growth Factor Serums is now available at Esthetics at Allegheny Physical Medicine in Bethel Park, Pittsburgh!
